The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with the C-Moor Group to develop and launch an on-line False Alarm Reduction Course. This course will be aimed at the chronic abusers of alarms systems or those who create the most false dispatches within given jurisdictions. The law enforcement and fire AHJs have long sought an alternative to costly and administratively burdensome “alarm abusers” classes. The new CSAA course is designed to be a tool for the AHJ community to use in place of such costly programs as in-person classes. The course will be offered and hosted through the CSAA website. According to CSAA Executive Vice President Steve Doyle, “The alarm industry and the AHJs have long needed a device whereby the worst abusers of alarm systems can be educated about the detrimental effects of false alarms, how they work, and the steps needed to correct these problems in their own businesses and homes." This course, which will take approximately an hour and a half to complete, will require the passing of a test administered at the end of the course review. After successfully passing the exam, the individual will receive a "Certificate of Satisfactory Completion" which they will then be able to turn back to the AHJ to resume response if it has been curtailed for high abuse rates. The course will include such topics as:
An early fall nationwide rollout is anticipated with the help of the national AHJs and a significant marketing campaign, not only to the local AHJs, but to the alarm industry itself. “This course will give both the local AHJ and the alarm dealer a tool and an option to offer to the chronic or casual abuser which will not place the AHJ or the alarm company in a difficult position since the course is being offered by at “third party” at the national level. This course should take the political, administrative and financial burden out of educating the most difficult of our alarm abusers,” added Doyle. For
